The space-saving wonder for small bathrooms – the space-saving vanity unit

Just 45 cm is all it takes to create extra storage space in any bathroom. That’s the size of the vanity unit, which often comes as a set with a matching ceramic washbasin. Especially when the bathroom isn’t very big, every opportunity to create storage space is important. After all, towels, cleaning cloths and bathroom essentials need to be stored somewhere. This small but stylish vanity unit is perfect for the job.

When is the 45 cm vanity unit the perfect choice?

If you still have space under your washbasin, you’re doing something wrong – that’s where the matching vanity unit belongs, so that space isn’t wasted. If the bathroom is small, it needs to be a small unit. In this respect, the 45 cm vanity unit is always the best choice if you:

1. Need space to store your bathroom essentials.
2. Haven’t installed anything under your current washbasin yet.
3. Want to conceal unsightly plumbing fixtures (siphons and the like).
4. Want a durable and robust piece of bathroom furniture.
5. Value design and the ability to expand the unit.

Just take a look around your bathroom and consider the pros and cons of such a vanity unit. You’ll probably struggle to think of any cons. The advantages, however, are obvious.

The advantages of a 45 cm vanity unit

A vanity unit of this size offers the following advantages:

1. It fits into small to medium-sized bathrooms.
2. It is easy to assemble.
3. It offers plenty of extra storage space that would otherwise be wasted.
4. It comes in a variety of designs.
5. It is good value for money.

A vanity unit of this size is extremely versatile. It fits into small bathrooms, but is also suitable for medium-sized ones. Whether it’s right for your bathroom depends entirely on your space requirements. Its compact size makes it easy to install. This applies to both the version with doors and the version with drawers. You can use the extra storage space you gain for everything that belongs in the bathroom. Please note, however, that the version with drawers has less storage space than the vanity unit with doors. This is due to the design and applies to all versions with drawers. The wide range of colour options doesn’t necessarily make your life any easier, though. We can promise, however, that all our bathroom furniture can be combined well, so you’ll be able to buy additional pieces in the future that will fit in seamlessly.

What to look out for when choosing your 45 cm vanity unit

There isn’t much you really need to consider before buying the vanity unit. However, there are a few aspects you must bear in mind. Think about them beforehand and you’ll be glad afterwards that you made exactly the right choice:

Your 45 cm vanity unit must leave you enough space in the bathroom. You want to be able to move about freely without constantly bumping into the unit. This also applies when the doors or drawers are open. Stand in your bathroom and think about how much space you need to feel comfortable. Then check whether a 45 cm vanity unit with open doors or drawers restricts your movement. If it does, consider a smaller version. If it doesn’t, consider a larger one. If that’s not an option, you’ve found your perfect vanity unit.

Think about what’s more important to you: storage space or convenience. A vanity unit with doors offers plenty of storage space. However, you’ll always have to bend down to get your bits and bobs out. Is that a problem? If so, consider a unit with drawers. It has less storage space, but you can reach into the drawer from above. That’s more convenient. Also ask yourself how often you’re likely to need anything from the unit. If it’s not very often, you’re better off choosing the version with doors.

Check where you can install the vanity unit. 45 cm isn’t much space, but if the water connections are in an awkward position, you’ll have a problem. Check whether the fitted vanity unit might be too close to the bathroom door, a shower or a radiator. If this is the case, you’ll need to measure carefully to ensure the unit will fit there. Alternatively, you could have the connections relocated. This involves some effort and expense, but it might be worth it.

Last but not least, you should think about your choice of colour. The other elements in your bathroom – particularly the tiles – play a key role in determining the colour of the vanity unit. A rule of thumb is that light-coloured bathroom furniture should be used in dark bathrooms, and dark-coloured bathroom furniture in light bathrooms. Stick to this, and you can’t go far wrong.
