60 cm mirror cabinet
Mirror cabinets for almost any bathroom
A 60 cm mirror cabinet is suitable for almost any bathroom. Whether large, medium or small, this type of cabinet fits into many bathrooms. This makes it a versatile choice, whether with or without built-in lighting. It provides storage space in the bathroom, keeps things tidy and makes efficient use of the space above a washbasin.
The advantages of the 60 cm mirror cabinet
A cabinet like this has various advantages and – admittedly – hardly any disadvantages. The 60 cm version in particular is suitable for a wide range of bathrooms, so you can enjoy the following benefits without having to give much thought to whether it’s feasible:
1. The space above the washbasin is used efficiently. Of course, there’s usually a mirror hanging above almost every washbasin – after all, you want to look at yourself in the bathroom in the mornings and evenings. However, this means storage space is lost. A mirror cabinet compensates for this and, in addition to the mirror, provides space for toothbrushes and toothpaste, cosmetics, razors or other bathroom accessories. This makes more efficient use of the space above the washbasin area.
2. If you choose a version of the 60 cm cabinet with lighting, you’ll have optimal lighting from the front. It doesn’t always have to be a cabinet with built-in lighting. Depending on where you position it in the bathroom, natural light from outside may be sufficient. However, choosing a cabinet with lighting ensures that your face is always well lit. This is important when it comes to the finer details of applying make-up or shaving.
3. Thanks to the wide range of designs available, the mirror cabinet can be seamlessly integrated into almost any bathroom. Whether combined with other units from our range or as an addition to an existing bathroom – the 60 cm mirror cabinet fits in anywhere, not least because of its timeless design.
The illuminated mirror cabinet and its power supply
If you opt for a 60 cm illuminated mirror cabinet, you must ensure that there is a power supply at the installation site. If this is not the case, an electrician should run a cable to the relevant location beforehand. This is quick and easy and involves little effort or expense. The cable is usually run from the bathroom fuse box and connects the mirror cabinet to the mains supply. This is the only way you can use the light and the sockets. With the 60 cm version that does not require its own power supply, this is of course not necessary. Here, the decision is entirely up to you as to whether you need additional lighting and further sockets or not.
What is the right size for your bathroom?
The 60 cm cabinet is a good compromise for many bathrooms. Visually speaking, it suits both small and large bathrooms, as it is neither oversized nor too small. However, there are of course other factors you should bear in mind if you want to know whether the cabinet will fit in your bathroom or not:
1. Where should it be hung? Given its dimensions, will it actually fit in the spot where you intend to hang it? If a radiator or another shelving unit is in the way, it won’t fit. Check your bathroom to see if there are any obstructions to the left and right of the mirror cabinet. If you can or want to remove these, you can continue to consider the 60 cm cabinet. If not, you should consider a smaller one.
2. How much work would it take to run a power cable? Ultimately, only an electrician can answer this question, but you can already get an idea of how much work it would take to run power to the installation point. To do this, either locate the distribution box in your bathroom or check where the nearest wall socket is. The electrician would need to run a cable from there. The further away either of these is, the greater the effort and cost. It’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth it.
3. How much room do you have to move about in the bathroom, particularly when the mirror cabinet doors are open? Do you have enough space? Can you even open the doors, or is there anything in the way (a sloping ceiling or other bathroom furniture)? Also bear in mind your own space requirements. In the long run, very few people want to compromise between a larger mirror cabinet and restricted freedom of movement. In that case, you’d be better off considering a smaller model.
